How It Works

Point of Use Mixing System BVM11 MS

The Mixing System uses Levitronix® pumps and ultrasonic flow-meters for feedback control to achieve a high level of flow accuracy and repeatability. In this case, two pumps control two flow channels which meet together to an inline mixer. The inline mixer is of PFA and PTFE construction where multiple vanes guide and direct flow to promote homogenous mixing. The BVM 1.1 is mounted in series after the mixer to monitor viscosity of two blended fluids. Thus, mixing two fluids of different viscosities is achieved through flow control, inline mixing, and viscosity control to produce meaningful, repeatable results. In many cases this system also gives insight into the process where previous variables may not have been known or considered significant.

FAQ

  1. What actually mixes fluids together in the system?
An inline static mixer is used to mix two fluids together. The viscometer also acts as a mixer.
  2. How fast can I change mixing ratios?
Depending on the size of the change, the transition can be as short as 20 – 25 seconds.
  3. When I hooked up the mixing system to my equipment, the mixing ratio changes on its own. What is happening?
If pressure dynamically changes in the system, it will require time to respond to those changes.

Software

Benefits

  • Complete sensor and/or system control
  • Export a Microsoft® Excel compatible file
  • Predicts viscosity for different fluid temperatures

Viscometer System Software (VSS) is a complete control and data acquisition application for use with our products.

Our controllers make it simple to add additional sensor signals and analyze data by exporting a Microsoft® Excel compatible file. VSS is capable of controlling viscosity by targeting and monitoring viscosity changes. VSS also predicts viscosity for different fluid temperatures. VSS can also control Levitronix® BPS series pumps.
