| The BVM 11DMP uses the BVM 1.1 as a platform for the next step in process automation. The module tracks viscosity through a continuous circulation loop back to a main tank. A digital output signals a feeding pump or valve to dispense solvent to dilute the circulating fluid. The module can achieve precise flow control using an ultrasonic flowmeter and signals from a Levitronix® pump. Users are also able to tune the control software to optimize their process. Since there is no temperature control, the module is compact. Algorithms in the software compensate for fluid temperature fluctuations to ensure the dilution process is accurate and repeatable. |

FAQ
- Can the module be mounted in any direction? It may be mounted in any direction. However, we recommend the viscometer be mounted in the same direction as when it was calibrated. We have not yet fully investigated the gravitational effects to viscosity measurement.
- Do I have to supply power to devices controlled by the module? The module has 3 digital outputs. Each output is connected to the 24 volt module power supply. Pure digital outputs with no circuit voltage are available.
- Can I calibrate the module in a non-temperature controlled environment?Yes, you can. Just make sure that the fluid temperature range in the calibrating fluid is within the temperature range of the viscosity vs. temperature profile data of the fluid itself.
- Is there a tank size limit for the Dilution Module? The Dilution Module does not impose any tank size limitations. Some limiting factors may include: solvent feeding capacity, circulation flow rate, mixing time etc.
- Do I have to generate calibration data for each product I use?Generally, if the products in question are in all the same product family (i.e. the only difference between products is % solvent concentration), the Dilution Module will perform as it should. Also, if the products have similar viscosity vs. temperature profiles, then the module may be used for all.
- I am using a diaphragm pump instead of a centrifugal pump. Will the flow/pressure spikes affect the performance of the module?Generally the module can accommodate any type of pump. The software is also able to filter out any unwanted physical noise or disturbances in the fluid system.
- I'm worried about chemical compatibility. Specifically, what other materials are used in the system? We use the following wetted part materials:
Viscometer
• Kalrez® Spectrum Compound 6375
• PTFE
• PFASolvent Pump
• PVDF
• FFPM
• PTFE

Benefits
- Complete sensor and/or system control
- Export a Microsoft® Excel compatible file
- Predicts viscosity for different fluid temperatures
Viscometer System Software (VSS) is a complete control and data acquisition application for use with our products.
Our controllers make it simple to add additional sensor signals and analyze data by exporting a Microsoft® Excel compatible file. VSS is capable of controlling viscosity by targeting and monitoring viscosity changes. VSS also predicts viscosity for different fluid temperatures. VSS can also control Levitronix® BPS series pumps.
